DBIM organises Blood Donation Camp

Don Bosco Institute of Management (DBIM), Kharghuli in collaboration with Guwahati Medical College (GMC), Guwahati held a blood donation camp in the institute’s campus on 7th December. Over 47 students donated blood.

Fr Johnson Parackal, Executive Director and Rector of DBI spoke on the occasion and encouraged many students to donate and save lives. “There is more joy in giving and by donating blood you are giving life to those who needed it,” he said. He cited example of Mother Teresa who gave to others even to the point of losing her own life.

Dr Abhinanda Baruah, a doctor from GMC who was present at the blood donation camp said that she was encouraged by the willingness of the students to donate and save lives. “In Assam there are numbers of patients suffering from Thalassemia, an inherited blood disorders that can result in the abnormal formation of hemoglobin especially among children. There is great need for blood to help patients suffering from this sickness and occasion of this sort will save the lives of those suffering from this,” Dr. Baruah said.

The blood donation camp was the initiative taken by the management students themselves as part of the co-curricular activities.
