Don Bosco Institute is an educational institution that offers various courses and programs in the fields of Vocational, Professional and management. The Institute is affiliated to Don Bosco University and follows its curriculum and guidelines.

The Institute aims to provide quality education and holistic development to its students and staff. The Institute also strives to maintain a conducive and respectful learning environment that fosters academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility.

The Terms & Conditions Policy (the Policy) is a document that sets out the rules and regulations that govern the relationship between the Institute and its students, staff, and other stakeholders. The Policy also defines the rights and responsibilities of all parties involved in the educational process.

The Policy applies to all students, staff, and other stakeholders who are associated with the Institute in any capacity. By enrolling or working at the Institute, or by using its facilities or services, all parties agree to abide by the Policy and accept its terms and conditions.

The Policy is subject to change from time to time as per the discretion of the Institute management. The Institute will notify all parties of any changes or amendments to the Policy through its official website, notice boards, or other means of communication.

Admission

  • The admission process for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is conducted as per the norms and criteria prescribed by Don Bosco and the relevant authorities.
  • The admission process may involve entrance tests, interviews, merit lists, or other methods of selection as decided by the Institute.
  • The admission process is transparent and fair. The Institute does not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed, religion, gender, nationality, disability, or any other grounds.
  • The admission process is subject to availability of seats and resources. The Institute reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant without assigning any reason.
  • The admission process is binding and final. No requests for cancellation or refund of fees will be entertained after the admission is confirmed.

Fees

  • The fee structure for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is determined by the Institute management in consultation with Don Bosco and the relevant authorities.

  • The fee payment schedule for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is specified at the time of admission. All parties are expected to adhere to the fee payment schedule and pay their fees on time.
  • The fee payment mode for various courses and programs offered by the Institute may include cash, cheque, demand draft, online transfer, or any other method as approved by the Institute.
  • The fee payment receipt issued by the Institute is a valid proof of payment. All parties are advised to keep their fee payment receipts safely for future reference.
  • The fee payment defaulters may face penalties such as late fees, interest charges, suspension of services or facilities, cancellation of admission or enrollment, withholding of results or certificates, or legal action as per the discretion of the Institute management.
  • The fee payment waivers or concessions may be granted to deserving candidates on merit-cum-means basis as per the norms and criteria prescribed by the Institute management. All parties who wish to avail such waivers or concessions must apply in writing with supporting documents to the Institute management within the stipulated time frame.
  • The fee payment refunds may be allowed in exceptional cases such as death or disability of a student or staff member, withdrawal of a course or program by the Institute, or any other reason as deemed valid by the Institute management. All parties who wish to claim such refunds must apply in writing with supporting documents to the Institute management within the stipulated time frame.

Courses

  • The course structure for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is designed as per the curriculum and guidelines provided by Don Bosco and the relevant authorities.
  • The course structure may include theory classes, practical sessions, tutorials, assignments, projects, seminars, workshops, field trips, internships, or any other activities as required by the course or program.
  • The course structure is subject to change from time to time as per the discretion of the Institute management or Don Bosco. The Institute will notify all parties of any changes or amendments to the course structure through its official website, notice boards, or other means of communication.
  • The course duration for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is specified at the time of admission. All parties are expected to complete their courses or programs within the prescribed duration. Any extension or exemption may be granted on valid grounds as per the discretion of the Institute management or Don Bosco.
  • The course attendance for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is mandatory and monitored regularly. All parties are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each course or program. Any shortfall in attendance may result in loss of marks, detention, debarment, or expulsion as per the discretion of the Institute management or Don Bosco.
  • The course evaluation for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is conducted as per the norms and criteria prescribed by Don Bosco and the relevant authorities. The course evaluation may involve internal assessments, external examinations, viva voce, presentations, or any other methods of assessment as decided by the Institute or Don Bosco.
  • The course evaluation is transparent and fair. The Institute does not tolerate any malpractice or misconduct during the course evaluation. Any party found guilty of such malpractice or misconduct may face penalties such as cancellation of marks, disqualification, suspension, expulsion, or legal action as per the discretion of the Institute management or Don Bosco.
  • The course evaluation is binding and final. No requests for revaluation or rechecking of marks will be entertained after the results are declared. Any grievance or complaint regarding the course evaluation must be addressed to the Institute management or Don Bosco within the stipulated time frame.

Attendance

  • The attendance policy for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is mandatory and monitored regularly. All parties are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in each course or program. Any shortfall in attendance may result in loss of marks, detention, debarment, or expulsion as per the discretion of the Institute management.
  • The attendance policy is subject to change from time to time as per the discretion of the Institute management. The Institute will notify all parties of any changes or amendments to the attendance policy through its official website, notice boards, or other means of communication.
  • The attendance policy allows for certain exemptions or relaxations on valid grounds such as medical reasons, personal emergencies, participation in cocurricular or extra-curricular activities, or any other reason as deemed valid by the Institute management. All parties who wish to avail such exemptions

or relaxations must apply in writing with supporting documents to the Institute management within the stipulated time frame.

  • The attendance policy does not allow for any leave of absence without prior permission from the Institute management. All parties who wish to take leave of absence must apply in writing with valid reasons to the Institute management well in advance. The grant of leave of absence is subject to the approval of the Institute management and does not exempt the party from fulfilling the minimum attendance requirement.

Discipline

  • The discipline policy for various courses and programs offered by the Institute is aimed at maintaining a conducive and respectful learning environment that fosters academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. All parties are expected to behave in a manner that is courteous, cooperative, honest, and respectful at all times.
  • The discipline policy is subject to change from time to time as per the discretion of the Institute management. The Institute will notify all parties of any changes or amendments to the discipline policy through its official website, notice boards, or other means of communication.
  • The discipline policy prohibits any form of misconduct or indiscipline such as cheating, plagiarism, copying, falsification, impersonation, harassment, bullying, violence, vandalism, substance abuse, ragging, discrimination, defamation, disruption, disobedience, insubordination, or any other act that violates the dignity, rights, or safety of others or that disrupts the normal functioning of the Institute.
  • The discipline policy also prohibits any form of unauthorized use or misuse of the Institute’s property, facilities, services, resources, or information. This includes but is not limited to damaging, stealing, tampering, hacking, or accessing without permission any equipment, material, data, or network belonging to the Institute.
  • The discipline policy empowers the Institute management to take appropriate action against any party found guilty of violating the discipline policy. The action may include warning, counseling, fine, compensation, suspension, expulsion, or legal action as per the discretion of the Institute management. The action taken by the Institute management is binding and final.

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is the commitment to honesty, fairness, respect, and responsibility in all academic endeavors. It is essential for the creation and dissemination of knowledge, the development of critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills, and the preservation of academic standards and reputation. All members of the academic community, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators, are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and to report any violations of these standards.

Violations of academic integrity include, but are not limited to:

  • Plagiarism: The use of another person’s words, ideas, data, or work without proper acknowledgment or citation.
  • Cheating: The use of unauthorized materials, information, or assistance in any academic exercise or activity.
  • Fabrication: The falsification or invention of any information or citation in an academic exercise or activity.
  • Facilitation: The act of helping or attempting to help another person commit an act of academic dishonesty.
  • Misrepresentation: The act of lying, deceiving, or misstating one’s identity, credentials, or achievements in an academic exercise or activity.

The procedures and penalties for dealing with cases of academic dishonesty are as follows:

  • Any instructor who suspects a student of academic dishonesty must inform the student of the allegation and provide evidence for it. The instructor may also consult with the department chair or dean for guidance.
  • The instructor may impose an appropriate sanction on the student, such as a reduced grade, a zero on the assignment, or a failure in the course. The instructor must also report the incident and the sanction to the Office of Academic Affairs using a standard form.
  • The Office of Academic Affairs will maintain a record of all reported cases of academic dishonesty and will notify the student of the allegation and the sanction. The student may appeal the instructor’s decision within 10 days by submitting a written statement to the Office of Academic Affairs.
  • The Office of Academic Affairs will appoint a committee to review the appeal and conduct a hearing with the student and the instructor. The committee will decide whether to uphold, modify, or overturn the instructor’s decision and will notify both parties of the outcome.
  • If the student is found guilty of academic dishonesty, the Office of Academic Affairs may impose additional sanctions on the student, such as probation, suspension, or expulsion from the institution. The student may appeal the Office of Academic Affairs’ decision within 10 days by submitting a written statement to the Provost.
  • The Provost will review the appeal and make a final decision on the case. The Provost’s decision is not subject to further appeal.

All members of the academic community are responsible for promoting and maintaining a culture of academic integrity. Any person who witnesses or becomes aware of an act of academic dishonesty should report it to the appropriate authority.

Any person who retaliates against or harasses another person for reporting or participating in an investigation of academic dishonesty will be subject to disciplinary action.
