Message from the Director
Greetings from Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati!
As the new Executive Director of the institute, I assumed office in July 2023 and I was delighted to witness the spirit of Don Bosco alive and active in our campus. I was impressed by the dedication, commitment and professionalism of our team, as well as the passion, curiosity and resilience of our students. I am delighted to share with you some of the highlights of our achievements and initiatives in the past six months. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic in the past couple of years, we have continued to serve the youth and the society with zeal and commitment, following the values of a Catholic Mission and upholding the vision, values and ideals of Don Bosco.
One of our major accomplishments was hosting the 14th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in Collaboration with Don Bosco Institute. This programme aimed to promote national integration, cultural diversity and social harmony among the tribal youth from different states of India. We were honoured to welcome and interact with these young leaders and learn from their rich and diverse experiences.
Another significant event was hosting the State Level Yuva Utsav organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in collaboration with Don Bosco Institute, which is part of Amrit Mahotsav Programme of the Government of India. This programme showcased the talents and skills of the youth in various fields such as sports, arts, music, dance and literature. We were impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm of the participants and the organisers.
We are also proud of our humanitarian and educational efforts to provide free food, accommodation, rehabilitation and education to nearly 300 displaced Kuki students who were victims of communal violence in the state of Manipur. We have provided them with a safe and supportive environment to find solace, heal their wounds and rebuild their lives. Some of the students have also secured decent jobs after receiving education and training from our institute.
The biggest event and success of the previous year for our institute was organising the 3rd International Conference on Education for School Principals and Educational Administrators – 2023 (ICONSPA – 2023) from November 21 to 23, 2023. This conference brought together eminent speakers, researchers and practitioners from across the country to discuss and exchange ideas on the latest trends and innovations in education. This is one of our flagship programmes that we are determined to keep as an annual event. We received overwhelming feedback and appreciation from the delegates and the sponsors for the quality and relevance of the conference.
We have also re-launched our annual magazine, Interface, which showcases the achievements, activities, and stories of our institute and its stakeholders. This magazine is a platform for sharing our experiences, insights and learnings with the wider community.
These are just some of the examples of the vibrant and dynamic culture that we have at Don Bosco Institute, Guwahati. We are constantly striving to improve our quality and standards of service and to explore new opportunities and collaborations. We have many more programmes and activities planned for the coming months and we look forward to your participation and support.
I thank you for your interest and involvement in our institute and I invite you to visit our website and social media pages for more updates and information. I also welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we can serve you better.
May God bless you and your families!
Sincerely,
Fr. Cletus Sebastian SDB
